ABOUT ME: Cynthia Ortiz, LMHC

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to learn about me. It’s really quite simple. I have a passion and a desire to help others recognize and reach their full potential. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Certified School Counselor. I have many years of experience working with children, adolescents, and women.

I am a proud UCF Knight and earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Central Florida. My bachelor’s degree is in Psychology and my master’s degree is in Counseling Education. Although the degrees have been earned, the learning doesn’t stop for me. I enjoy it and hope to stay current with the knowledge and skills required to assist my clients as best as I can.

I believe most counselors have a heart to help. So, what sets me apart? I like to think that it is my personality. I am a loving person that receives joy from seeing others at their best. I am an encourager and a motivator but I also believe in speaking one’s truth and setting boundaries to maintain healthy relationships with others but most importantly for ourselves.

I’m also not afraid to let my inner child shine through. This is so valuable when interacting with my younger clients. They are learning lifelong coping skills but are having fun as we work through the process. Who says counseling can’t be fun? It is and the children love it!

I recognize the importance of having a positive attitude. Yet, I also understand that life can sometimes throw us curve-balls. It’s not about being a perfect individual. It is about your mindset and how you choose to respond or react to life situations.

As your chosen counselor, I will be there to listen and guide you throughout your personal journey. Your wins are my wins!

What to Expect

As a client of Morning Dew Counseling, you can rest assured that it is you who leads the way. I am your counselor who will cheer you on and encourage you. I am also the person trained and educated to assist you in the process of change. I consider this to be an important responsibility and consider it an honor that you have chosen me as your counselor.

You can expect a safe, caring, and nurturing environment. The purpose of your sessions will be to focus on your specific concerns. We will track your personal goals and follow a plan of action to achieve the specified goals.

How does the process work? Our initial session will consist of us reviewing the intake forms that will be provided to you prior to the first session. The information you provide and your primary concerns will provide a road map for the path we need to take. We will then determine appropriate goals together. As we move through the process, the goals can shift and that is okay.

The sessions that follow will be your time to discuss and reflect on the progress you are making. There may be times that “homework” is assigned to you to strengthen certain coping skills or to provide a stronger foundation pertaining to your area of focus. The homework requests aren’t difficult or very time consuming. They are implemented to yield powerful results, when completed as requested.

Remember, the first step is always the most difficult. Please don’t let fear or uncertainty stop you from being the best version of yourself. I will be there encouraging you along the way. Each session will be a rewarding step for you as you come closer to the full potential of your purpose!
