Ready, Set, Goals….2020

As we move out of the Christmas season and into the new year, 2020 is surely on most everyone’s minds. Goals will be set and visions of what the new year has to offer will be formed in our minds. Envisioning a better life for ourselves and our loved ones is a wonderful thing. I am a dreamer at heart, so I like to think big and envision the best possible life for myself.

I urge you to do the same. Sometimes we allow fear to hold us back. Before you know it, another year has passed us by and we are still filled with the same desire to pursue that dream of ours that we did not have the courage to pursue. You can do different this year.

Failing is scary but so is never trying and having regret. This feeling of regret or of disappointment towards one’s self for inaction seems more devastating to me than actually pursuing the goal or dream and failing. You have gifts to offer yourself and to the world. Please don’t allow fear to deter you. Conquer that fear and you may surprise yourself. So many times, there is something greater on the other side but we will never know because we allow fear to overrule our heart and intentions.

Now, this does not mean that you simply throw yourself into a whim of positive emotions and think everything will work out just because. Goals require a plan. Goals require effort. Goals require sacrifice. Be clear about what it is you want to accomplish. Think about what is required to complete your goals. Will it require your time, focus, money, and possibly help from others? Get your thoughts in order, write it down, create some steps, and take action. Once you see this plan written down, it may inspire you to dream even bigger.

Each time I go through this process of goal setting, planning and taking action, God is at the forefront. It is through prayer and God’s guidance that my thoughts are formulated. He provides the vision, the energy, and whatever it is that I need to make my goals/dreams come to be. Here is a scripture that I look to for encouragement along the way: “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.  You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” Hebrews 10:35-36. God gives us the vision and the tools, but it is still up to us to move forward and make it happen through our personal actions.

I hope 2020 is all that you want it to be. May all of your goals be accomplished. Furthermore, may you be proud of yourself simply for taking action and pursuing your goals. No regrets. You have what it takes. I believe in you!

Much Love and Respect,

Cynthia
